Happy Birthday, Rin!

Yesterday was the birthday I set for my Rin, so I took a few photos to celebrate! It was late at night, though, so I wasn’t able to post them before bed, but better late than never, right?

(Side note, I got a new awesome tripod, and it’s making my life soooo much easier! My apartment’s lighting isn’t great, so being able to use longer shutter speeds is a godsend!)

What a difference a flash makes

For a long time, I was of the opinion that flashes were evil and tended to make your pictures look bad. While that may be true of on camera flashes, I recently discovered the joys of a hot shoe flash and being able to bounce it off walls/reflectors/etc. We bought my father one for Christmas, and I convinced him to let me borrow it, so I took some test shots of Lisa’s Mahiko and my Ace to see what it could do. I think I’m going to borrow it more often!

Enjoy!

Happy New Year!

I’m still alive, I promise!

Finals, holidays, and illness have given me less time to dote over my resin family than I would like. Poor Lisa’s Fuuta is still without a faceup, as are a number of the floating heads. I really do plan on giving them some faceups soon, at least if the weather will cooperate with me!

We don’t have any doll plans on the horizon, but I do have plans to take plenty of photos of my crew. I’m working on my photography skills and hope to get even better!

And with that, I’ll kick off 2016 with some photos of Rin!

Progress?

Life has been hectic lately!

Not only has school been keeping me super busy, but car accidents, a fractured foot (unrelated), work changes, and catching a cold have all occupied quite a lot of my time. As such, I still haven’t gotten everything from the Order of Doom painted, but last Friday, I at least got two more faceups done.

For this round, I painted Lisa’s Kid Delf Maska Romance Ver. as well as my Senior Delf Ethan. I don’t know what it is about the Maska sculpt, but so far, every faceup I’ve done on one has gone smoothly and quickly! Ryuuki, my Ethan, on the other hand, was not so lucky. Not only did I have major eyelash trouble, but when glossing his eyes, my brush slipped and got a big streak of gloss across his cheek (T_T) It was a bit of a disaster, but his hair hides it, so I’m leaving him as-is for the time being. I still have 4 1/2? faceups to complete, as well as two Fortune Delfs, so Ryuuki will just have to be patient with me!

At the moment, we have no incoming orders, so things are all quiet on the doll front. For Lisa’s birthday tomorrow, I got her a Kid Delf Kelp head (though not the romance ver. she wanted). Of course, he has no body, but it’s a start!

Given that finances are real tight around my home, there will likely be a lack of purchases for a long while. On the up side, this gives me time to invest in the dolls I have, and hopefully take more photos!

As an aside, my father is looking to get into wood working, and he actually brought up the possibility of making doll furniture. We’ll see how it turns out, but if he gets good at it, we might team up to sell it. Who knows!

For now, have some iPhone photos of Ryuuki. I’ll post some of Sono (Lisa’s Maska) later on, as well as show off the manicures she gave Akasha and Sono!

Last but not least…

On Wednesday, my lovely Senior Delf Ethan, purchased from a member of DoA, arrived! He was the tail end of my three days of dolls, and boy what a lovely way to end it~

The excitement is palpable…

And one more giant box!

Beautiful, large photo (I think this was before they started giving certificates), and his dark pillows were even lovelier!

And here he is!

The seller included lots of lovely extras, too! Which is good, because I didn’t have any more shoes in his size, haha

And here’s Ryuuki! He’ll look perfect once I give him a faceup 😀

His hands are beautifully manicured as well. Very happy with him!!

Ahh, now this weekend will be a faceup-a-thon!! I can’t wait to share completed photos!

It’s the Dollpocalypse! Pt 3

The Great Doll Arrival of 2015

We start off with the mysterious pink boxes

The Great Doll Arrival of 2015

Inside were these two cuties! The special summer event Fortune Delfs. Lisa and I did a random behind the back choosing and I got the normal skin, who I will call Rui, and she got the brown skin, who she is naming Mel-chan. Her fortune is in Chinese and mine in Korean, though, so we aren’t sure what they say!

The Great Doll Arrival of 2015

Unexpectedly, we also got the Kid Delf event head! Lisa had been eyeing it, but we thought we wouldn’t get one because we got the free My Choice. Happy (and cute) surprise!

These horns are awesome. Keeping these!

All today’s newbies (as you can see, Cian is taller now that the Maska twins have their normal legs)

This bad boy is the Acheron. No one wanted it, so we’re keeping it. It’s a LOT longer than I expected! It was actually in two parts!

And the lineup (with clothes!) Lisa isn’t happy with Kohmei’s (Cian) or Fuuta’s (Aragorn) wigs, so she’s searching for new ones at the moment. I don’t know if Rin’s (Redheaded Maska) will stay, but for now, I love it.

Himeko and Miki both got new wigs out of the deal. This is the wig I initially wanted for Miki, and she’s beautiful in it! Himeko’s is just a shorter, easier to manage wig in a similar color to her other.

And what would a box opening be without a cat?

I hope you enjoyed! Expect much more photos once I actually get a chance to paint the millions of new faces. Tomorrow, I’m expecting the Senior Delf Ethan I purchased from a member off DoA, so expect another box opening (hopefully tomorrow, if I have time!)
